Club Rules

 

Show Jumping and Gymkhana

1.

The decision of the judges to be accepted in every case as final.

2.

Officials and competitors only allowed in the ring.

3.

Correct dress to be worn in the main ring. Jackets are preferred: alternatively a long-sleeved, dark-coloured top is acceptable. Correct footwear (no plimsolls or trainers) and hard hats with harness conforming to BHS rules must be worn at all times when mounted anywhere on the showground. Body protectors are recommended but not compulsory. CORRECT RIDING DRESS (INCLUDING JACKET) MUST BE WORN FOR SHOWING AND DRESSAGE. Dress code may be altered at the discretion of the judges due to weather conditions.

4.

Whips and spurs are not permitted in any gymkhana class.

5.

Riders are not allowed to gallop horses on the showground. Failure to comply will result in exclusion from the meeting.

6.

Ponies/horses should be walked to and from the collecting rings and around crowded areas in the showground.

7.

No horse or pony under 4 years old may compete in any ridden class, except in Showing.

8.

Anyone entering a class non-competitively may not compete in a subsequent class at that show.

9.

Dogs must be kept on the lead except when competing in the Horse and Hound class inside the ring.

10.

Age of rider as at 1st January 2008.

11.

The club championships will be decided on points for the same rider/pony or horse combination throughout the year. Riders must be members to be eligible for points. Points awarded are 4, 3, 2, 1

12.

Leading rein runner not to be changed during the meeting.

13.

A competitor who competes 'on the lead rein' in any class may not compete 'off the lead rein' in any other class at that show.

14.

The club reserves the right to refuse entry to the showground or class to any person or persons without prejudice.

15.

Any objection must be lodged with the show secretary, in writing, together with a deposit of £10.00 refundable if the objection is upheld.

16.

It shall be a condition of entry that each entrant shall indemnify the promoters against any legal action arising from any accidents whatsoever.

17.

No claim can be entertained for anything which might happen to competitors, spectators, their property, servants or horses, in connection with, or arising out of this horse show and gymkhana.

18.

Objectionable and/or abusive language around the collecting ring will not be tolerated and entry to classes may be refused.

19.

The committee reserves the right to measure any pony if so required. Life height certificates are not acceptable.

20.

In novice classes the pony / horse must not to be currently registered with the BSJA. Ponies/Horses can compete in Pre-Novice for 1 season only. Ponies/Horses can compete in Novice for 2 seasons only. Any pony/horse competing in Ring 2  (with the exception of Fun Classes, Puissance or Veteran Riders0 cannot compete in Ring 1. In the 1st season ONLY a Pony/Horse can be shared by riders in Ring 1.

 

Showing

1.

The club reserves the right to refuse entry to the showground or class to any person or persons without prejudice.

5.

Age of rider/handler as at 1st January 2008.

6.

A competent person aged 14 or must lead any "in-hand" stallion.

7.

Riders are not allowed to gallop horses on the showground. Failure to comply will result in exclusion from the meeting.

8.

Objectionable and/or abusive language will not be tolerated on the showground and entry to classes may be refused.

9.

 Dressage

 1.

The decision of the judges to be accepted in every case as final.

 2. All competitions are run under British Dressage Group rules. Discretion is made for tack and turn out but correct riding dress is required.
 3. Entries close one week prior to competition. Entries will be accepted on the day where there are places available.
 4. In the event of a class being oversubscribed, Tilney St Lawrence Riding Club members will have priority
 5. The pony/horse must not be currently registered with the BD and the horse/pony and rider combination must not have been placed 1st at any dressage test during 2007.
 6. Times of riding to be obtained by telephoning              between approximately 8.00pm and 9.30pm on the Friday prior to the competition.
